The Isola del Miele produces in the reservoir natural of the Egadi islands Thistle, Erica, Rosmarino and Timo honeys.  

The honey of the Isola del Miele

These mono-flower honeys, extracted by cold centrifugalization, maintain the strong aroma of the sunny and dry pastures of Sicily.

The Isola del Miele moreover, with the practical one of the transhumance in the province of Trapani, on state property areas and biological cultivations produces the Millefiori honey and the mono-flower honey of orange and sulla.

The medium nutrizionali values for one hundred grams of honey are the following:

  • Energetic value: 303 Kcal/1268 kJ
  • Proteins: 0,6 gr.
  • Carbohydrates: 80,3 gr.
  • Fat: 0,0 gr.

THISTLE HONEY

The thistle honey has a color yellow - ancient gold, delicate aroma bouquet of flowers, intense taste with a light bitterish aftertaste. It is particularly indicated for the breakfast and for warm drinks.

ERICA HONEY

The erica honey is produced in autumn. It has an intense and persistent aroma, the color is amber like with characteristic orange glares, crystallizes with a very soft paste.

It is well indicated for cheeses and has diuretic property.

ROSMARINO HONEY

The honey of rosmarino is produced in winter. It has a pale yellow color nearly white, light balsamic flavour and soft taste, crystallizes with well visible crystals.

It is used like sweetener of drinks and for the breakfast. Well suited as tonic of the liver and against the respiratory affections.

THYMUS HONEY

The thymus honey has a very intense aroma, the color is yellow, slightly red, intense and aromatic taste, crystallizes in fine paste.

Well suited for the breakfast, after lunch, and for aromatize warm and cold drinks, it acts positively on the liver and the digestion.

ORANGE HONEY

The orange honey has an intense aroma that remembers the scent of the flowers of zagara, the color is light yellow, the tatse is of medium intensity, and when it crystallizes assumes an ivory color.

Well suited like sweatener of warm and cold drinks is particularly indicated for tisane. It has a relaxing and light sleep-inducing action.

SULLA HONEY

The honey of sulla has a very delicate aroma, light yellow color, soft herbaceous taste, does not alter the taste of drinks, when it crystallizes assumes a ivory color.

Well suited like sweetener of warm and cold drinks, is particularly indicated for the coffee.

The honey of lemon has a strong aroma and a red amber color, decise taste and crystallizes as a fine paste.

Well suited for breakfast and snacks, it is particularly well suited for closing a lunch.

PROPOLI

The Propoli is constituted essentially from a mixture of composed of aromatic and phenolic nature whose percentage is variable in function of the seasons and the type of vegetation.

Between the numerous constituents of the propoli the group of the polifenoli or flavonoidi is sure the more interesting and studied fraction and assures to the propoli great part of its antimicrobial property.

The beneficial property of the propoli are: bacteriostatic and bactericidal, fungicide, healing. Up to now no meaningful contraindication has been recorded in the use of the propoli.

POLLEN

The Pollen is a principal source of feeding for the bees that collect it from the flowers.

Each grain of pollen it made of proteins, 25 oligoelements, fat acids insaturi, simple sugars, vitamins (A, vitamins of the B group, vitamin C, D, and, PP, K), mineral salts (soccer, manganese, phosphorus, iron, sodio, potassio, aluminio, magnesium, branch), carotenoidi, bioflavonoidi and fitosteroli (betacarotene, licopene, beta-sitosterolo, quercetina, isoramnetina, rutina).

The daily dose of 10 grams (2 teaspoons),taken on morning and evening, is a highly strengthening integrator.
